Covering most medical specialties, IADT now offers a new medical service to its patients: Clinical Oncology. Drs. Federico Cóppola and Carlos Bas , highly qualified professionals, lead the team of medical specialists and nurses that provide oncology treatment to adult patients, both through conventional procedures of injectable drugs and through a selective administration technique by means of catheters.

The Oncology Service, covers an area of 134 m2 and it is located on the 4 th . floor, just in front of Rehabilitiation, with office hours Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Service complies with all Public Health standards, having pertaining infrastructure to carry out chemotherapy treatments and to provide medical attention for outpatients, as follows:

•  Five private rooms properly equipped, for patients under day hospital chemotherapy treatment.

•  Three consulting rooms for ambulatory medical attention.

•  A nursing station for staff and therapeutic control.

•  An oncology drugs bank which allows to meet immediately medication and treatment needs.

•  An exclusive area, equipped with a laminar flow system to prepare and manipulate cytostatic drugs.

With regard to the medical team therapeutics (centralized in IADT) it is important to point out the preservation of the ambulatory patient condition . This is so, thanks to advances in clinical oncology investigations, by which nowadays, most people who undergo chemotherapy treatment within a day hospital system, may be discharged with a continuous infussion pump device, which supplies medication 24 hours a day, during prescribed days according to each treatment.

The new Oncology Service benefits from the installed capacity and the competence of medical professionals from different diagnostic and treatment areas in our Institute: Imaging, Emergency, Laboratory and Pathological Anatomy. The possibility of providing integral medical attention in our Institute, will result in great benefits for patients who receive treatment from Dr. Federico Coppola medical staff .
